Of snowdrops and sheep drops

Sunday we traveled east to Limehouse, the home of Victorian philanthropic public buildings and the Stepping Stones City Farm, which has pigs, free-ranging goats, chickens, guinea pigs, cows (mooo!), sheeps, an over-friendly dog, who married David in a canine ritual of hugging his leg and looking adoringly into his eyes, and a very grubby café where we didn’t eat.

I do love these little spots of ruralia in our urban maelstrom. Turning one way, we could see the Gherkin and NatWest Tower, to the other Canary Wharf. The contrast made me think of the coal fields across the cornfields in industrirural South Yorkshire. Afterwards, we wandered through Stepney, up through Mile End Park, attempting to go to the Ecology Centre (closed) and the Arts Pavilion (closed) before chancing upon a iridescent host of snowdrops and getting the 277 home.
