So, the BBC Ripper series is definitely maybe going ahead. I can't help hoping that Russell TD is involved: he and Joss would make a great writing partnership. But: I'll never tell.

Late August, given heavy rain and sun....
Aug. 14th, 2007 04:33 pmThe company for which I work rents corners of Hackney parks to grow salads (and now a supermarket mixed bag is not good enough for me. Where's the golden purslane? Where's the perilla? It's like the first time you drink a nice wine and realise that £3.99 is never going to be good enough ever again. Damn my non-smoking tastebuds) and the greenhouses to grow figs, tomatoes, blackcurrants, redcurrants and blackberries. Most sell straight away - but I don't understand why anyone would buy blackberries. They're available in pretty much any wasteground. walking home today past Stoke Newington Common, I picked some, but it was a frustrating experience because the council or National Rail has put up a metal fence outside the railway line, and whilst I looked on in anticipation as flowers and buds grew, now I can only pick the few berries poking through the fence holes - all because some stupid little brats can't keep off of the railway tracks. What's wrong with old fashioned sitting at home in front of a computer game, that's what I want to know. I'm still not forking £2 for a punnet of non-wild berries though.
Edit: later, we went out to to the Rosemary Branch to win the pub quiz (and the jackpot) and they were selling blackberries and custard for £6.
