[personal profile] millionreasons
Somewhat belatedly, I've decided to have a year of just reading the books on my To Read list, in order. This might be difficult, as there is quite a lot of non-fiction on there and I much prefer my "first" book to be a novel, with a non-fiction back up book, which usually takes far longer to read.
I can't relax by reading facts. I also like to read something very different - from W Somerset Maugham to William Gibson to Nancy
Mitford to Margaret Atwood rather than reading, say, three detective novels in a row.

Anyway, the first book is The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, which I took out of the library some time ago and didn't read. I enjoyed Michael Winterbottom's imaginative take on filming the novel and thought I would go to the source material (when I look at my to read list, I think the main reason for most of the books being on it was because I liked the film). It being the pre-modern post-modern novel is probably why it's languished on my to read list for so long.
