A couple of years ago, I donated £50 to the Red Cross. Since then they have sent me:

• Teabags
• Tomato and basil seeds
• Return address labels
• To/From labels for presents
• Bookmark
• Xmas cards
• Birthday cards (for right-on people; unfortunately I don't know anyone of that ilk)
• Post-it notes
• Fridge magnet

I seem to have done quite well out of my fifty quid. The whole sending of little gifts within begging letters is counter-productive, one would rather have money spent on assuaging one's "oh look disasters are happening to other people" guilt than a free cup of tea.

The tomatoes are growing quite well though.
