richardbajor and I visited the Holiday Destinations expo in Earls Court, a place I’ve never been to deliberately before. Richard had free tickets, otherwise we’d have had to spend much longer than we did at the cocktail bar, recouping our costs. We explored the world through the free samples: St Kitts was giving out free rum and cake, Chile had fine wines, Italy offered olive oil and dipping bread, Turkey, Turkish delight and The Black Country had, well, nothing. Meanwhile, Iraq was being re-branded as Mesopotamia and Libya seemed an as equally ambitious concept as a travel destination. Not as ambitious as Blackpool, perhaps.
