That's interesting, because the reasons cited seem to make sense. I do take issue with the whole 'Germans are grumpy' generalisation. All the ones I've met have been an absolute hoot.
It's obvious - being nice to people you dislike is stressful, which lowers your life expectancy. I have pointed this out to previous bosses, to little and indeed no avail.
