I am glad that I am still enough of a romantic for my first thought this morning to be: WOW rather than: How am I going to get to work?

This feeling dissipated somewhat by the time I had been sitting at Pimlico for 15 minutes, following a signal failure at Seven Sisters. I'm not sure how the snow can affect the Victoria line which doesn't go above ground, but maybe it had come out in sympathy with the other lines, which in theory shouldn't have been affected either. The snow has been forecasted for today since last Saturday: 3 days should be enough to get the gritters into action. Mind you, London seems singularly unable to adjust to snow, people were still tottering around Highbury in high heels and prep school brats in Clapham were still wearing shorts, the poor little rich boys.

The Victoria line actually does go above ground for the approach to its depot at Tottenham ( hich you can see if you're ever out walking that way - and God knows why you would be). This is only a very short stretch of overground track, true, but it's probably enough to give them an excuse.

Mind you, the Victoria line has gone from being one of the quickest, most reliable lines on the underground to one of the worst since I came back to Britain, so I doubt snow has anything to do with it. It's probably just one of their "glitches" coming into play again which would have happened whatever the weather.
