I have woman-flu which is, as everyone knows, 100,000 times worse than man-flu. I am quite pathetic when sick, probably because it doesn't happen that often; I get colds and I'm a martyr to me sciatica, I am, but not the falling randomnly asleep, not eating, whimpering that I feel 'a bit poorly' kind of illness. The last time was after 4 days of too much alcohol and not enough sleep with Fosca and the time before that was about 1998. I can only think that the sore throat I've had for about a fortnight has lowered my immune system enough to let a nasty little vomiting bug in (on top of the illness, I think I have mild emetophobia).
Still, if I am going to be ill, Wednesday is the best day to 'choose', given that it's usually 10 or 11 hours long. Although I think my work has employed my neighbours to force me back to the stone of grindiness through utter frustration - whichever room I go into, they're in the same one above, stomping around on their laminate floor, banging, drilling or just having one of their interminable arguments. Maybe I'll go and breathe some germs through their letter-box.
