Life in a southern city

As the evening turned to rain
Watch the water run down the drain
As we followed him down to the station.
And though he never would wave goodbye
You could see it written in his eye,
As the train rolled out of sight, bye bye...
Walk the canal from Angel to Victoria Park, a place I’ve never been to, despite a decade in this unreal city - the first two seasons of it spent practically on the park’s doorstep. We wander down to Hackney to have lunch in a caff and I feel as if I’m haunting my old haunts, but the building I used to live in on Cassland Road doesn’t seem to be there anymore. The spoon has on Heart FM or Melody Radio or something which plays the song guaranteed to make me feel melancholy and homesick: Life in a Northern Town, although I think the town in question must have been Harrogate, so posh were those Dream Academy people.
