1.What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
I was discussing this with a friend who has had many many ‘firsts’ this year, whereas for me it’s been a pretty low key year. I grew courgettes and cauliflowers for the first time - I’m not sure if that counts.
2.Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My NY resolution is always the same – to be nicer to people and I always break it by 4th Jan.
3.Did anyone close to you give birth?
A couple of friends did but no-one asked me to be godmother, oddly enough.
4.Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5.What countries did you visit?
Ireland (for the first time), India, Sweden, Herefordshire.
6.What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
A new place to live that is mine (and David’s) own. Or, owned by the Nationwide Building Society at least.
7.What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
7th July, I suppose.
8.What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Keeping sane.
9.What was your biggest failure?
Not applying for a new job, not starting anything new, not making enough of what I’ve got.
10.Did you suffer illness or injury?
In March, I had the worst hangover I’ve ever had. Started Friday night and lasted until Sunday. No more Erdinger for me.
11.What was the best thing you bought?
My life is not defined by my possessions, goddamit. Although I did buy a pair of shoes that don’t hurt my feet which is always a plus.
12.Whose behaviour merited celebration?
I was very moved by the man who was seriously injured in the July bombings and was against the 90 day detention plans. I always admire people who don’t let their personal circumstances affect their opinions and values.
13.Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Mostly everyone in the news
14.Where did most of your money go?
I went down from 4 to 3 days a week at work so I only spend money on the essentials: rent, travel, food, gin and coffee.

Fosca going to Sweden. The 2nd test match.

Sweet Summer Night and Black Cab by Jens Lekman
