Thank god Christmas is over. Well, the sitting around being fed and watching telly bit hasn’t happened yet, but the sociability is almost done.
I’m exhausted! Last Wednesday we went to David’s work-do, which was fancy dress with the theme of alcohol. I wore green and carried a
Claire’s Accessories wand and was Absinthe (green fairy). Dave donned a sombrero and was Tequila. The event was held in the back room of
a local pub. The Financial and Information Services (and Environmental Health) department are no longer allowed to use council property for
their Christmas event since someone tried to set fire to the carpet last year. These accountants and IT types (and Env Health Officers) are
such bad-asses. Sunday, we sashayed down to Kingston to drink in the
pub(s) all afternoon whilst Richard cooked up a treat of an Xmas meal
(with two types of stuffing!) and I was very pleased to receive a Kingstonian FC hat as I have lost 2 Fulham FC and 1 Nottingham Forest FC
hats over the years (this is a reflection on the losing tendencies of these teams and not my carelessness) and a ticket to the Go! Team gig
next year amongst lots of other goodies.

Monday, we went round to Robert’s flat for mulled wine and Christmas pudding and then on to the rather cute Builders pub which unfortunately had a semi-private birthday party in the back where the birthday boy and his friends were singing to each other. A man with a beard was playing the clarinet and it ended up sounding like mid-80s wine bar-band Black. We ate their breadsticks ‘n’ dip and left. Tuesday, I went out with Tom to VicTORia and on Wednesday with the North-North-East London maf (Laurence, French Anne, DJ John, Robert, Alice, Dans J and F, Alan, Gareth and Martin). We took over a corner of the Shakespeare and watched Doncaster almost, almost beat Arsenal in the Carling cup. Still, we Doncastrians are used to failure and disappointment - you could say it’s our life-blood. To have it otherwise would be to disrupt the natural order of things.
