A Million Reasons for Wanting to Carry on Living

Last night, to the Wenlock Arms for real ale that smelled of green eggs, and pub quiz, run by the Fat Controller who seems to have been forced by the NHS or someone to lose 10 stone. Honestly, he's a mere slip of a man now.

We had the Team Of All the Talents:

Allan: Cricket, lateral thinking, Scotland
Heike: German rivers, facial recognition, anagrams
Jo: Chemical elements, 80s pop, bird identification
Rachel: 60s's pop, tunnels through mountains, characters in M*A*S*H
David: Aeroplanes, Africa, cycling

Unfortunately, the TOAT wasn't enough to win in the face of Tenants super strength competition. This isn't a pub you can waltz into with your A-level knowledge and scoop the jackpot from under the noses of regulars. For one thing, the quiz is free - people are playing for pride (and the prize of two pints (per team)), and for another, the pub is full of CAMRA characters who do this every week and probably stroke their beards whilst thinking: "We should really put a team together to enter Eggheads."

We came joint second on the music round (let down by lack of Elbow and MGMT knowledge) and about 6th on general knowledge. The shame.
